Tenth auction of
fine wines and spirits in the
Sala Bolaffi in
Turin on Tuesday
21st May, again in collaboration with
Slow Food Editore. A catalogue of over
800 lots, among which there are the most famous Italian and French bottles, to celebrate this important goal. The auction will be preceded by a tasting of four vintage Hermitage Blanc and Rouge
Jean-Louis Chave at 10.00 (limited number of places). The sale will then be opened by some famous Domaine bottles coming from private wine cellars at 11.00.
FRANCE
The great
French wines are the protagonists of the first sale session, starting from
Borgogna: a lot of three magnums of
Musigny Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes 1990 from
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé (lot No. 20, auction starting price
3,000 euros) and many wines from
Domaine de la Romanée Conti – Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux, La T
âche – of various vintages starting from the Sixties, among which a bottle of
La Tâche Grand Cru 1945 (lot No.37, auction starting price
3,000 euros) and two lots of
Romanée-Conti Grand Cru 1974 and
1972 (lots No. 41, 42, auction starting prices
6,500 euros and
4,500 euros) stand out. The offer is enriched by an interesting selection of wines from
Domaine Armand Rousseau: Gevrey Chambertin, Chambertin Grand Cru and Clos de Bèze.
Bordeaux wines are well represented by some bottles from the most famous Château, from the 1920s to the 2000s, including two bottles of
Château Ausone of
1919 (lots No. 80, 81) and several bottles of
Château Margaux, Cheval Blanc, Château Latour and Lafite. There are two top lots, each consisting of 12 bottles of
Château Mouton Rothschild of the great
2000 vintage in their original wooden cases (lots No. 150 and 151, auction starting price
22,000 euros each).
The sophisticated offer of champagne includes
Dom Pérignon from the Fifties and the Sixties,
Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque,
Krug Clos du Mesnil Blanc de Blancs and Louis Roederer Cristal also in special sizes.
ITALIAN WINES
Back to Italy, a monumental selection of
Barolo Monfortino Giacomo Conterno, is offered as regards
Piedmont: starting from the prestigious vintage
1958 – with several lots of different numbers of bottles – up to the most recent years; numerous wines of
Barolo Bartolo Mascarello of different sizes, from the Sixties up to today, including the labels designed by the grower; a wide selection of
Barbaresco Gaja, as well as some old
Barolo Cascina Francia bottles and some labels of
Barolo Rinaldi. Among the top lots of the section, there are two Barolo and Barbaresco by Bruno Giacosa magnums: respectively, one
Barolo Falletto di Serralunga d’Alba Riserva Etichetta Rossa 1989 (lot No. 374, auction starting price
1,200 euros) and one
Barbaresco Santo Stefano Etichetta Rossa 1990 (lot No. 375, auction starting price
900 euros).
In the section dedicated to Tuscany wines, several vintages of
Sassicaia stand out, including the famous
1985, and a sublime set of three bottles that made the history of this region offered in the amazing
2015 vintage. The set is composed of
Solaia,
Masseto and
Sassicaia, which has been recently crowned “the best wine in the world” by Wine Spectator (lot No. 638, auction starting price
900 euro). There are also some
Ornellaia vintages from 1994 to 2011 in their original cases, including a lot of
Ornellaia 2010 25th Anniversary, various
Brunello di Montalcino Biondi Santi and
Case Basse Soldera, many
Masseto in their original wooden cases and
Le Pergole Torte Montevertine in special sizes, including a six-litre bottle.
SPIRITS
The catalogue confirms the technical collaboration with
Whisky Club Italia for
quality spirits and fortified wines, presented at the end of the auction. This section offers 131 lots, among which the top lots of the entire sale: a bottle of
Laphroaig Sherry Wood Islay Malt Scotch Whisky 15 Years Old 1967-1982, Samaroli (lot No. 752, auction starting price
37,000 euros), one Bowmore Bouquet Single Malt Scotch Whisky 1966, Samaroli (lot No.751, auction starting price
37,000 euros) and one Grande Champagne Cognac Louis XIII Black Pearl, Remy Martin (lot No. 701, auction starting price
25,000 euros). It is expected a flurry of activity from the Asian market, which has always been a great admirer of spirits.
