Unpublished documents related to the Italian conquest of K2 and shots of the Alpes by the great mountaineer-photographer Vittorio Sella will be the most important items of the second “Mountain sale" which will be held on Thursday, 28 February at 3 pm as an internet live auction on astebolaffi.it. The sale will include 220 lots of photographs, furniture, paintings, art objects, books, prints, posters, autographs and K2 memorabilia.
After the auction of the first Moncler down jacket from the 1954 Italian expedition (awarded last year to the Moncler company), Aste Bolaffi proposes a fascinating new collection of K2 memorabilia from the expedition coming from the private collection of Ugo Angelino, the alpinist in charge of managing all the organizational aspects: medals, photographs, documents and letters with his family and Ardito Desio, head of the expedition (lots 209-221).
The top lot of the sale is the portfolio "Hautes Alpes" by Vittorio Sella, including 54 vintage gelatin silver prints (lot 4).
